The Result of Volunteering

posted in: About | 0

I have been a member of VT-FCGS since 2007 and the Board Treasurer since 2009. During this time I have seen the Society membership grow and the Library’s resources increase. This is mostly due to the enthusiastic efforts of many dedicated people. Not only have we increased the amount of time the Library is open (Tuesdays & Saturdays), there are Special Interest Groups, Spring and Fall Classes, a September Open House and of course, the Fall Conference in October. We have also increased our web presence by adding the Vermont Genealogy Library website (www.vtgenlib.org) to complement the Society’s original and highly accessed site (www.vt-fcgs.org); creating a Facebook page (vermontgenealogylibrary), and blogging with this WordPress (www.vtgenlib.org/yourvermontstory/) site.

We are also continuing our Diocese Book transcription project(now working on volume 46) and are actively working to add more content accessible to our members through our websites. We hope that our members are finding these improvements useful and beneficial.

We have been able to accomplish all of this because the Vermont French-Canadian Genealogical Society and our Vermont Genealogy Library is a volunteer-based organization, and our work would not be possible without passionate people stepping forward to lend a hand.

That being said, we can always use more help!

We are in need of help with the following jobs. Some of the activities can be accomplished from home and others need your presence at the Library.
